NYC SST 1-HOUR CONFINED SPACE ENTRY

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Construction workers often perform tasks in confined spaces such as sewers, manholes, crawlspaces, and tanks. These spaces can present safety challenges, including how to exit in an emergency, exposure to toxic substances, electrocutions, explosions, and asphyxiation. THIS IS AN AWARENESS LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

For a list of all SST courses please visit the DOB’s website here.

Audience: Curriculum for any Worker or Supervisor employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.

DOB Course Code: SST-202

This course does not provide an SST card. It does count toward the required 32 hours of training necessary to earn an SST card for Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Persons.

NYC DOB REQUIREMENT:

1-HOUR CONFINED SPACE ENTRY

Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager. By September 1, 2020, workers will need a total of 40 hours of training to qualify for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. Supervisors must have a total of 62 hours of training by December 1, 2019, and to have obtained the Supervisor SST card. Confined space entry falls under “Site Safety Training (SST) Specialized Elective Courses.” Supervisors may complete and apply this course toward the 32 hours of required training to obtain a supervisor SST Card.
