2-HOUR TOOL BOX TALKS
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This program’s goal is to introduce procedures and strategies for delivering brief on-site meetings, known a Tool Box Talks. Students will be introduced to the goals, format, expectations, and best practices for Tool Box Talk delivery. THIS IS AN AWARENESS LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Audience: Required curriculum for any Supervisor employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.
DOB Course Code: SST-304
This course does not provide an SST card. It does count toward the required 32 hours of training necessary to earn an SST card for Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Persons.
NYC DOB REQUIREMENT:
2-HOUR TOOL BOX TALKS
Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager. By September 1, 2020, workers will need a total of 40 hours of training to qualify for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. Supervisors must have a total of 62 hours of training by December 1, 2019, and to have obtained the Supervisor SST card. Tool box talks falls under “Site Safety Training (SST) Prescribed Courses.” Supervisors will need to complete this course in order to receive their supervisor SST Card.

100% attendance for tool box talks course: 2 hours of instruction time

Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form

Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)

Completion of required pre-and post-quiz assessment

As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination

Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)

Make up time is not allowed. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course.
PREREQUISITE: This course package is appropriate for individuals who meet the qualifications of a Supervisor under Local Law 196. For more information on Local Law 196, click here. Participants need to be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS
A plethora of methods will be used, such as auditory, visual and kinesthetic methods to ensure learning. This includes the program’s PowerPoint, related lectures, testing/quizzing, hands-on activities, and classroom discussions.
