6-HOUR SST PRESCRIBED COURSES
PACKAGE

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This package offers three NYC Department of Buildings-Approved SST courses including 6 hours of prescribed (required) training that can be applied towards the requirements of a Supervisor Site Safety Training (SST) Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS- LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

This package includes SST training courses that are required to obtain a Supervisor SST card but do not have any course equivalents. SST safety courses are as follows:

- 2-Hour Tool Box Talks (SST-304)

- 2-Hour Site Safety Plan (SST-301)

- 2-Hour Pre-Task Meeting (SST-303)

Audience: Required curriculum for any Supervisor employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a Construction Super, Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, Concrete Safety Manager, or Competent Person.

NYC DOB REQUIREMENT

Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager. By September 1, 2020, workers will need a total of 40 hours of training to qualify for a Site Safety Training (SST) card. Supervisors must have a total of 62 hours of training by December 1, 2019, and to have obtained the Supervisor SST card.

CEU REQUIREMENTS

  1. 100% attendance for this package of courses: 6 total hours of instruction time

  2. Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form

  3. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)

  4. Completion of required pre-and post-quiz assessment

  5. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination

  6. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)

  7. Make up time is not allowed. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course.

PREREQUISITE: This course package is appropriate for individuals who meet the qualifications of a Supervisor under Local Law 196. For more information on Local Law 196, click here. Participants need to be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in.

2-HOUR SITE SAFETY PLAN

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:​

  1. Explain the necessity of using site safety and logistics plans for site safety management

  2. Understand the basics of blueprint reading

  3. Understand the components of site safety and logistics plans

  4. Understand communication and coordination of multi-employer worksites

  5. Understand definitions of terms used on site safety and logistics plans

LEARNING OUTCOMES

2-HOUR PRE-TASK MEETING

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:​

  1. Explain the necessity of a pre-task meeting

  2. Illustrate the hierarchy of controls and apply them to typical construction tasks that will be regularly performed.

  3. Understand the components of a pre-task meeting

  4. Understand when to perform a pre-task meeting

  5. Identify potential human error traps when performing a pre-task meeting

INSTRUCTIONAL METHODS

A plethora of methods will be used, such as auditory, visual and kinesthetic methods to ensure learning. This includes the program’s PowerPoint, related lectures, testing/quizzing, hands-on activities, and classroom discussions.
